Places to visit with your Pooch Autumn 2024

If you are visiting Cornwall with your dog we know how difficult it can be to find things to do with your furry friend (and not leave them alone) while you enjoy your break. We know that not everyone wants to go to the beach all the time, so we have been researching things to do and places to go.

Firstly, this autumn The National Trust are running a scheme called a “Pooch Passport” where you can collect stamps from the places you visit and get a treat for your furry friend. The scheme is running between 1st September 2024 and 28 February 2025 at participating venues.

So, pop in for walkies – a great chance to walk you dog around the beautiful grounds and stop for a bite to eat. For more details follow the link to the National Trust Pooch Passport page.

Secondly, a trip to the Eden Project gives access to miles of outdoor walking space for your dog, on a lead. There are restrictions as they cannot go into the buildings, or the biomes, but if you have been before and just fancy a wander one afternoon outside its a perfect change of scenery, or one of you can be on dog duty and wait outside while you take turns to explore the biomes. Details from the Eden website on dogs can be found here for you.

How about packing a picnic and hiring a bicycle and a trailer for the dogs, or little tots, and having a ride from Padstow to Wadebridge (or beyond onto Bodmin) with the family? The Camel Trail is a fantastic trail that is traffic free, beautiful views and chances to stop off on the way. Our friends at Padstow Cycle Hire have some fantastic information on the trail on their site, and have a great selection of bikes to hire – right in the middle of Padstow, with parking nearby if you are coming in from outside the town.

Looking for something indoors? Then a trip to the Cornwall at War Museum in Davidstow is worth a trip. Dogs are allowed on leads and 95% of the venue is under cover. The museum is such an interesting place so allow at least 2 hours for mooching and exploring.

Have fun exploring.

Have you found a secret treasure to visit? We would love to hear your suggestions of places to go with your dog.
